I Partnered with God

From Diane

I JUST finished reading your book and I am so excited I can hardly keep from jumping up and down. I have been telling God that I KNOW we are supposed to be seeing more of God's power than we are. And here it is, all neatly outlined in your book.

First of all, the Holy Spirit usually teaches me something, then He confirms it again and again. And your book is confirmation to the lastest thing He has been teaching me. I am involved in church in mentoring young married women. One of the women I mentor is a woman who had cancer in her leg when she was a very young girl. (And her mother died of cancer). Well, it was determined that she, this young mother, carries a cancer gene. And one month after she got married, she got breast cancer and had to have both of her breasts removed. Then she got pregnant and had a beautiful baby boy. He, too, has the cancer gene. Not too long ago, the baby developed a lump in his leg. Everyone was certain it was cancer. But everytime I prayed for the baby, I could hear the Lord speaking to my heart saying that the baby did not have cancer and I was to just thank God for his good health. At at meeting of the mentors and young women, I found myself alone with this young mother. And I kept feeling this overpowering strong "nudge" to tell her what I was hearing God speak to my heart. But I certainly didn't want to give her false hope. But the "nudge" was SO STRONG I couldn't ignore it. So I told her, but prefaced it by saying that only time would tell IF I had indeed heard God correctly. Anyway, the test results came back on her son, and sure enough, NO CANCER!!!! Praise our glorious God!

Several weeks later, when I ran into the mother, she told me how the words God spoke to me gave her and her husband the encouragement they needed to get through the weeks of waiting for the results. I have thought about this incident so many times and wondered if I did the right thing in telling her.

But then it happened again!!! Another young mother developed a lump in her neck and was about to have testing done. She, too, has a family with a history of cancer. Again, I felt this "nudge" to tell her that everytime I pray for her, I hear the Lord speak to my heart and say, "It's not life threatening." Again, I hesitated to say anything, but couldn't resist the "nudge." THEN I bought your book. This young mother is to hear the results of her tests TOMORROW. Today, in church, I ran into her and she thanked me for telling her what I did because it has given her a peace that has made her wait bearable. SO, I told her about your book and how you heard the Lord tell the woman in the airport that you would be sitting next to each other on the plane, and that maybe this nudge I felt was the same kind of nudge you have been talking about. I really feel like I have stuck my neck out, but I would rather be wrong and face the embarrassment of being wrong than not to have responded to a nudge from God. Tomorrow will tell.

ALSO, I have been praying to God to be sent. The first night after I prayed this, I received a phone call at midnight from my daughter who was very sick with the flu. She is the mother of three young children, and her husband was out of the country on business. She needed me to come and help her and take care of the children. I wanted to cry because I was so tired, but God reminded me that I needed to be prepared to be sent "no matter how, where, or when God signals His will," as you said on page 63 of your book. So I went and was able to care for my daughter and grandbabies. (He sure does test us to see if we're serious!)

Then two days ago, my husband and I were in Lowe's. As we were going through the check-out line, my husband started talking to the cashier, who looked like she had the burdens of the world on her shoulders. We immediately realized she was the person we were sent to deliver a miracle to. We learned that her husband died unexpectedly two years ago, and after being sober for 12 years, she was back on the bottle. We were able to minister to her, tell her we knew an Answer, and we introduced her to Him. And right then and there, in Lowe's, we prayed with her. And, wouldn't you know it, not a single person came through this line the whole time we were talking and praying with her.

Thank you so much, Mr. Wilkinson, for giving us the tools we need in order to be deliverers of God's miracles. We are so excited about this new adventure in our lives. I am a retired school teacher, and my husband just turned his construction business of over 30 years over to our son. Instead of feeling retired, we now feel like we have a new assignment. We are delivery people. I know this is long and wordy, but I am just overflowing with love and gratitude to God for using you in such marvelous ways. I think we have read every book you have ever written and have sat in Sunday school where many of your courses were taught. (The 7 Stages of Spiritual Growth was one of the most powerful courses we have ever studied. We even did it twice in church because there was so much to absorb.) I am the Superintendent of adult Sunday School and encourage my teachers to use your material whenever something new comes out. My husband is hoping to teach You Were Born For This during this coming summer. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and God bless you and Darlene.
